Sumida Park stretches along both banks of the Sumida River. In spring, a plum and cherry blossom festival is held here, and in summer, the Sumida River Fireworks Festival is held here.

The Sumida side of the park (across the river from Asakusa Station) is a garden in which there are about 700 cherry trees planted in the park, which has been selected as one of the 100 best cherry blossom viewing spots in Japan.

The cherry trees start blooming at the end of March, creating a tunnel of about 350 cherry trees including Someiyoshino, weeping cherry and Edozakura between Azuma-bashi Bridge and Sakura-bashi Bridge.

It is a good place to take a walk along the river, but many visitors also enjoy viewing the cherry blossoms on houseboats and other boats.

Sumida park is also a great place to view the nearby Tokyo Skytree, either during the daytime or in the evening when it is lit up.
