The Ueno Royal Museum is located near the statue of Takamori Saigo in Ueno Park and opened in 1972.
In addition to holding public exhibitions and special exhibitions of works from overseas museums on loan, the museum also holds special exhibitions such as the VOCA Exhibition, which aims to nurture young artists under the age of 40, and the Ueno Royal Museum Grand Prize Exhibition, which aims to discover unique talents.
